Nurse Coach

Board Certification

& Program Information

The national Nurse Coach Board Certification is new and exciting… and can be a little difficult to wrap your head around at first. So let’s clear it up!

Our Transformative Nurse Coach Certificate Program has been approved by the American Holistic Nurses Association to provide 120 CNE contact hours related to Nurse Coaching.

The American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) accepts our 120 CNE contact hours for the board requirements for the National Nurse Coach Board Certification.

This means our Nurse Coach Board Certified program provides you with the most accessible, affordable, and highest-quality training to help you reach your professional goals.

The Two Types of AHNCC Certification

Our program allows you to obtain both of the certifications below. The only difference between the two certifications is that HWNC-BC means that you are BOTH a NC-BC and a HN-BC (Holistic Nurse – Board Certified).

So, NC-BC + HN-BC = HWNC-BC.

Eligibility Requirements (per AHNCC website):

  • Unrestricted, current U.S. RN license*
  • Active practice as an RN for a minimum of 2 years full-time or 4,000 hours part-time within the past 5 years
  • A minimum of a Baccalaureate (BS, BA, BSN) degree in Nursing from an accredited academic institution (International candidates must have their Baccalaureate Nursing degree evaluated to determine that their program is equivalent to a US Baccalaureate Nursing degree program.)

  • 60 hours coaching experience that has been mentored and/or supervised by a Certified Nurse Coach Supervisor AND Validation letter from a Certified Nurse Coach.

We know the national Nurse Coach Board Certification sounds complicated – and it can be! Which is why our program exists.

The truth is, obtaining the appropriate CNE contact hours and supervised coaching hours required to sit for the National Nurse Coach Board Certification exam can be a daunting process.

With so many piecemeal continuing education activities out there, you can get stuck in paralysis by analysis.

Unsure if a program is applicable towards the board certification… or not.

Now, as if that wasn’t bad enough, finding a board certified Nurse Coach who is willing to supervise your 60 hours of practice coaching can be difficult and expensive.

It can be overwhelming to learn how to become a powerful Nurse Coach – and enroll clients – all from a heart-centered place.

Figuring out all of this on your own can leave you stuck in a dizzying array of options and uncertainty.

Luckily, there’s an answer:

The Transformative Nurse Coach Certificate Program. It provides you with everything that you need in order to fulfill the educational and coaching practice hours required to be eligible to sit for the Nurse Coach Board Certification exam.

By taking this course, do I still need ‘experience’ requirements?

You may notice that the Nurse Coach Board Certification requires “60 hours coaching experience that has been mentored and/or supervised by a Certified Nurse Coach Supervisor AND Validation letter from a Certified Nurse Coach.”

All of this (and more) is included in our training program, which means that you do not need to seek out additional coaching experience or outside mentorship. Our Nurse Coaching Program provides you with all of the practice and experience necessary for you to become a world-class nurse coach.

There are some additional requirements in regards to recent hours in active RN practice. Check out the requirements above.

How do I know if I meet the experience requirements?

Check out the AHNCC eligibility requirements for each Board Certification to determine if you meet the required number of practice hours.

Which nursing specialty allows me to meet these requirements?

Working in any setting as an RN will allow you to meet the nursing hour requirements. Any are of bedside nursing, leadership, education, clinical or non-clinical setting is fair game. If you are working as a nurse, these hours count as professional RN practice.
